Week 6

First volleyball match tomorrow! Excitingggggg!
Weetos are my new favorite cereal. So much chocolatey goodness.
I find myself saying weird English things now, such as lift for elevator, flat for suite, and things like "in a bit" for see you later, cheers for thanks, and proper...which just sounds really formal. I'm weird now apparently.
I have two ten page papers due at the end of term. Not excited about that. And apparently all of my professors don't find it important to respond to any of my emails!!!
Anyways, just another rainy day in England.

Just another week in England!

So this week was pretty uneventful and mostly consisted of me having the cold that all of Uni has right now. Today, however, was the best day EVER. A bunch of us went shopping in Colchester and I got some amazing finds. I have missed shopping so much. I bought some sandals for Greece, shorts, two dresses, and an obnoxiously large pair of sunglasses. We ended the day with the best Thai food ever (spring roll's, how I love thee). This weekend I am going to be living in the library. Next week is reading week, so no class! I'm going to attempt to start my essays. OH. And I topped up my phone today, so for 10 pounds I have unlimited texting to the UK for next month, woo!

Love from England! x

I am so ready for Spring Break.

So I currently just began week 5 of my time here in England. It's weird to think I've been here that long, but even weirder thinking about how much time I have left.

I officially have three big trips planned!
March 19-21: Dublin
March 27-April 1: Paris
April 20-April 27: GREECE!!

I am beyond excited about Greece. Trip planning takes so much effort and I'm so glad to be done with the bulk of it. Here is a link to the villa we will be staying at in Greece! It is only 70 pounds for the entire week per person, which is amazing! http://www.hostelbookers.com/hostels/greece/santorini-island/3694/

I joined the field hockey team last night with a bunch of Americans studying abroad here. It is really hard and requires hand eye coordination that I don't really possess. The only reason we really want to be on it is for the social stuff that they do. It should be interesting trying to do two hours of volleyball then two hours of hockey on Tuesdays.

I feel like I've finally settled in here and adjusted to all of the changes. It's hard to fully appreciate it now but I have realized this is probably of the hardest things I will ever do in my life. Whenever I heard people talk about studying abroad in the past it just seemed like an amazing fun thing to do. I had no idea how much an experience like this really causes you to evaluate the way you are living your life and what is important to you.

One month down, four to go.

Love from England xx

Here are some pictures from the past few weeks:

All of my American friends at a pub in Manchester at noon on a Saturday!

Amazing artwork on the side of the street in Manchester that got painted right in front of us.

A tavern in Manchester that looks exactly how I would picture a typical pub.

Me, Carly, and Joanna dressed up as nerds for the Geek or Chic night.

It's officially been three weeks.

I am insanely sore right now! Tonight Jelyse and I went to check out the volleyball team and got to join in on a practice...well to my extreme surprise the coach pulled me aside and asked me to join the team and play in the national championship? I was shocked but super excited. I can't move my legs though. Sunday Jelyse and I will be going to a tournament/getting up at 6 am...rough.

I am finally on a schedule with my classes and actually have been doing reading and work. It's not as hard as I thought it would be, but it's scary knowing my entire grade is based on the final exam in June.

Last weekend we went to Manchester with the travel society and spent a total of 12 hours on a bus there and back. It was a really cute little city with lots of cheap shops. I bought 8 pound pink rain boots and an 8 pound dress. I also took a ton of pictures I need to put up.

Yesterday my English friend Chris drove a few of us into Colchester town, but not the touristy part. We went in the back of the town with lots of little thrift shops where we got some awesome cheap things (including a zebra print umbrella!) I also experienced my first fish and chips, but apparently there are better places to get it so I'll have to try it again. Everyone looks at your really weird when you say the words "french fries."

Also, Josh Redden is coming to visit Jelyse and I Friday! (For the non-Le Moyners reading this, he is one of our friends at school studying in London). It will be so weird to see someone else from Le Moyne.

That's it for now, love from England! xx
